Wacky Tacky Day

OK I should've taken pictures, if they would have allowed it. But being teenagers probably not. So you'll have to trust me on this one. It appears my children have a lot of school spirit. Too cute. This is "spirit week" at the ol' Catholic high school - no uniforms for those who participate. Wednesday was "wacky wednesday" or as they called it in grade school, "Wacky Tacky Day." And my kids were ready. Get your sunglasses out, it's brutal.

On Sh: black and white polka dot leggings, covered by white, purple plaid shorts. On top, a yellow polka dotted and stripped camisole top over a green? blue? (I forget already) tshirt. On her feet, one pink fluffy sock, one regular sock. Tons of colored jewelry, none of which matched anything she was wearing, 2 different earrings, wild scrunchies in the hair and whew, it hurt to look at her.

ON Au: one orange soccer sock, one white 80's tube sock. Jeans, over-layed by red shorts. His Burton snowboard shirt of grey, black blue design under a pink and green striped short sleeved polo shirt. Two different shoes. Pant leg rolled up on one side to display the orange sock. And on the hands? The killer: an old pair of weighlifting gloves that I found from my workout days in Spain - leather and red, with no fingertips. Hilarious.

Today is class spirit day - the sophomore got Green, our least favorite color. But they managed to find some green and go off in their colors. Hopefully they will locate the person selling "class shirts" today so that they can wear the proper "SJC" shirt tomorrow. Otherwise, they'll wear some kind of SJC garb. Yes, it's homecoming Saturday! Let the fun begin.

I'm glad they're "joiners" you know? Some kids think such things are silly. But I guess if your choice is your boring uniform or the chance to wear "normal" clothes, you will go to any extreme...
