OK so the kids are away for 2 weeks - what do to what to do? Well, you know work was a large part of it. What else should mom and dad do while the kids are gone? How about hack down the 40 year old azalea's that have plagued the front of the house and work like dogs in 100 degree heat in the gardens?? Sound like fun?? Well, guess what, it IS fun! Just look!
See all those stumpy branches? K says we need to get a bunch of foil fingerpuppets and put them on the ends so that people will know we did this on purpose.
Alternatively, he walks up to the front of the house and says, "Darn deer, they are really eating everything this year!"
Some of the bushes have gratefully already shown new growth from earlier when k hacked away a "back bush" that was starving the back part of the azaleas. So at least we have a little greenery.
On the right in the empty space used to be a big ugly green bush. Only took K an hour to dig out the root.
What's this you ask? Here's the clippings that we trimmed!! And see that big ugly root thing? K dug that out. Yep, we did this last Sunday. On Monday we spent the night busting up the branches into 3 foot bundles, tying them up, and getting them ready to recycle. On tuesday we dragged them to the curb. What fun! On wednesday, the county hauled them all away. Big Smiles.
