CRUIZIN'

Finally, some perhaps long-awaited photos of the cruise. I discovered that we didn't actually take that many photos. K's sister KL took over 200 and was our official "cruise photographer." Perhaps someday I can get copies of those photos! (they are also digital, thank goodness). But for now, here's a taste of the Family Cruise 2007!!

This is going out of Port Canaveral, Florida. Lots of traffic. K and I enjoyed standing in the bow of the ship and watching the Coast Guard chase all the little boats out of our way and off to the starboard side of the ship - totally out of the channel. Very interesting.

Um, somehow no photos of Coco-Bay- the private island owned by Royal Carib on the Bahamas - next thing you know, we're in St. Thomas! The pretty lady on the right in the white tank is K's sister KL, her little girl to her right, and her husband C standing up. The teenagers are off behind C, and the confused looking lady in the periwinkle suit is yours truly. Little did we know we were about to get SOAKED on our way to snorkeling! This 70' boat flew through waves, and we eventually all put on our snorkel masks in order to breathe through the constant soaking! It was hilarious. We had an awesome time snorkeling, saw lots of fishies, sting ray, even a barracuda, and a few big turtles. Then we had a nice, calm motor back to the dock, where we grabbed lunch on board the cruise ship, then found K in Megan's Bay, taking a taxi ride over the mountain. Yes, everyone who has ever been to St. Thomas said, "You MUST go to Megan's Bay." And YES, they were right. Unbelievably gorgeous. What an awesome afternoon. I would like to return by sailboat someday and enjoy the islands a little more than we were able to.

Below are more posts from more adventures later in the week. Yes, I managed to remember how to get them to post chronologically - a new first in my blogging!! (Thanks to my cousin C for all her pointers along the way).
