The hype all done, the waiting the watching over, and we got about 4 inches. Not so bad. Unless you add the 1/2 inch or so of ice mixed in. Shovelling is a major pain, having to be done in layers. Streets are an icy mess, and apparently snow plows can't get the school parking lots done because they waited too long. So it's now day three of no school. They got out early Tuesday and haven't looked back. The photos below are from Wednesday, where we got out early to shovel, the snow/ice/rain having stopped sometime in the night. Of course, I forget that Blogger does first in, first out, so my photos are all jumbled up. You're supposed to start at the bottom, then come back to the top. oh well.

Ch is clearly a very happy dog. She says, "OK it snowed and I have a ball and I want to play. You are all out here clearly the sole purpose of entertaining me. so throw it throw it throw it already. " Um Ch, you have to drop it first - note ball hanging out of mouth. She got clobbered (inadvertently) with a LOT of shovels of snow in her determination to play...no, she isn't any smarter.

Nothing like an extra teenager around to help. R showed up with his dad - they were out "sliding" - seeing what the Audi all wheel drive could do in the snow. They had already tackled their ginormous driveway (with a super-powered snow blower), took pity on us and stopped to lend a hand. Nope, didn't bring the snow blower, but these big guys were way better than just the three of us!

A is working hard and sweating harder. Here he's down to the last of the Grandparents' drive, having completed our drive. That's the street in the background - untouched except for the neighbors who slid up it. I was shocked when the plows came by later Wednesday. Despite the fact that we are, in fact, on a school bus route, they rarely bother with our street until it's way too late to matter. Very exciting stuff. I was actually able to drive on thursday!
